My International Dream Came True in the Magical Universal Studios
By Ashley Blosch, from Greenheart Exchange Career Advancement Program Operations Coordinator
It finally happened! I have been waiting for this day for a very long time. Now as an adult approaching thirty, I’ve finally gotten to live a recurring dream of my childhood, teen years, and adulthood. I’ve always wondered how it would feel to ditch my link to wild existence (even if only for the day) and cross that threshold into the magical world. While in Florida conducting site visits, this Greenheart gal was able to explore the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I started my Saturday morning nice and early—to beat the heat and the crowds— at Universal Studios Florida. For me, the most magical part of the day was getting to taste some of the foods that my beloved characters enjoy from my favorite books. Upon arriving in Diagon Alley, I headed to the Leaky Cauldron for a traditional breakfast of eggs, leeks and a mushroom Pasty. To wash it all down, I ordered a nice cold butter beer (a sugary drink). That is the true breakfast for champions and the one that Harry would definitely approve of. Then, I made my way through the shops then hopped on the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade. I visited Honeyduke’s Candy store before venturing into the Hogwarts Castle. I dined at the Three Broomsticks for a late lunch of fish and chips. Later in the day, back in Diagon Alley, I finished my magical food adventure with a peanut butter and strawberry ice-cream cone; it is Harry’s favorite from Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour. A truly magical day!
