On July 29th, CCI Greenheart staff made its way to Washington, D.C. to visit its Work and Travel participants and host organizations and participate in a J Day event: the Lifeguard Olympics. CCI Greenheart, along with two other sponsor agencies, started J Day two years ago to celebrate international exchange and service to others by eating, playing, and giving. This year, J-1 visa participants joined events throughout the United States to celebrate their time in the United States and give back to their host communities.

From July 29th to July 31st, CCI Greenheart visited four host organizations that collectively host over 200 participants each summer. Participants spent their summer working as lifeguards, visiting all the landmarks in D.C., and learning more about American culture. On August 1st, over 100 participants united to donate non-perishable food to a local D.C. food bank and participate in a friendly competition. Lifeguards competed for their countries in races and other games as part of the Lifeguard Olympics. Everyone had an amazing time!

Spend your next summer working in the United States and experiencing American culture by joining CCI Greenheart’s Work and Travel program.
