Last week, CCI Greenheart’s international partners, US employers, and industry stakeholders came together in Chicago for our annual conference regarding the Work Travel exchange program. In addition to getting into policies and the nitty gritty of the exchange program, conference attendees got to truly experience our Greenheart side. As an organization committed to social and environmental consciousness, we had all conference attendees get down and dirty with Greenheart by volunteering in community gardens. All of our exchange participants are encouraged to volunteer for the Greenheart Club during their exchange and this was the perfect opportunity for those involved in the program to see what volunteering for the Greenheart Club is really all about.

Over 50 people from all over the USA and globe descended on community gardens in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago for an afternoon of planting, digging, weeding, and fun. Our volunteers visited the ECO Roof Top garden, Growing Station garden, Orozco School garden, and Xochiquetzal Peace Garden.

As these gardens are all community and co-op gardens our presence was much appreciated. Conference attendees also learned a lot from the experience feeling inspired to encourage their exchange participants to get involved with Greenheart as well.

CCI Greenheart would like to give a special thank you to the Eco Roof top, Growing Station, Orozco School Garden, and the Xochiquetzal peace gardens for hosting us at their beautiful gardens!
