Love the Work You Do: Kimone’s Experience in Missouri
Back in Jamaica, the work environment in any company tends to be very professional and formal. To my disbelief, the work environment here in the U.S. is the most relaxed one I’ve ever experienced!

After leaving the airport in Jamaica, I have finally arrived in the United States! I had no idea what I was in for when I arrived in Missouri – the difference in time was the first shocker. Missouri is known as the Show State, and my host community of Branson is no exception. From the bright lights and countless performances on the strip, for a moment I thought I was in Vegas! Countless stores, cafes, and huge tourist attractions towered over us in all their glory.
I am working at a theme park, where I operate go-karts, bumper cars and boats, and a number of other rides. Back in Jamaica, the work environment in any company tends to be very professional and formal. To my disbelief, the work environment here in the U.S. is the most relaxed one I’ve ever experienced!
At work, I have spoken about Jamaica to everyone. Yet, I still dig deep enough to find something new to share with every person. It’s a form of self-actualization – I am learning more about my country and self while sharing with others.
What I have learned from my managers and fellow employees is that it is vital to love the job that you do. When you love your work, you will perform to the best of your ability and customers will feel comfortable receiving your service.
