2014 marks the final year of the Thai academic calendar as we know it.  In an effort to boost international exchanges and welcome more foreign students and teachers to the Thai school system, traditional Thai university summer break dates are shifting to match the Western calendar.

2015 classes will be dismissed in May and June, and resume in August and September; in contrast to the conventional March dismissal, and June or July return that the world is accustomed to.  This year, Thai students will celebrate unconventionally long holidays from March to August as university calendars make the shift.

The United States will continue to partner with Thailand on the J-1 Summer Work Travel (SWT) program.  American businesses who enjoy hosting Thai SWT participants can still look forward to adding Thai culture to their workplace in 2015, just a bit later in the year than usual.
