On August 25th, CCI Greenheart headed to Warrens, Wisconsin for one of our last volunteer projects of the summer. Staff members Maria Pakhomova and Renee Clarke were welcomed by 18 participants that hailed from China, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. What a great welcome!

The volunteer project was organized by Friends of the Black River, a citizen-led organization dedicated to enhancing the Black River watershed.  Our job was to pick up garbage on a stretch of highway. Although it was an early, over-cast morning, everyone pitched in with enthusiasm to reach our goal! Friends of the Black River were very impressed with the work ethic of our participants. As we worked, our participants shared their exciting travel stories from their summer in Warrens. After a long and productive morning, we piled into cars and headed to the local Pizza Hut for pizza!
