From the moment I arrived at the airport, I realized that Colorado Springs would leave a special mark on my life. It is the first American city I have been to, and where I will stay for three months! I already know that the people here and the unique scenery are both very special to me.

If you asked me about the first impression I had of my host city-Colorado Springs-  I think I would tell you it was the unique scenery here. There are lots of mountains and ranges and grassland. The most famous mountains here are Pikes Peak and Cheyenne Mountain. I have not had a chance to visit there yet, but these attractions are already on my plan for next month. The sunset in Colorado Springs is also extremely beautiful, as the sky seems like it is immersed in the rosy pigment. I always take a picture of the sunset to record my daily life here in Colorado Springs.

Second, because we live in a small town, there is no public transportation. This was creating a problem for me to go out to shop. However, my host organization and co-worker agreed to take us to Walmart once a week, so I can buy food there! We live in a cabin which has both a kitchen and a bathroom, so it is exciting thing that I can cook by myself, because I am a person who cannot live without chili. My Chinese partner, Lynn, and I usually cook and eat together. It is wonderful that we can eat steaming rice and Chinese dishes in the United States.Third, each person in my workplace will also hold a special place in my memories of Colorado. There are so many nice people in my workplace. Mr. and Mrs. Gary are a couple working at our host organization’s café, and they make delicious foods. Our hosts, Belinda and Mike, also treat us very well. And our coworkers, who give us eggs and firewood are nice and make me feel warm in a foreign country. It is really a great feeling when we get along so well with locals and chat with them.

I appreciated everything in my host city, and Colorado Springs is destined to become a special place for me, and to leave a mark in my life. Thank you to Greenheart for providing this cultural exchange for me to see the world differently.
